Ronaldo Still Waits for First Trophy with Al-Nassr.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s wait for his first trophy with Al Nassr continues after a 1 0 defeat to Gamba Osaka in the AFC Champions League Two final. The Saudi club played at home in Riyadh but could not find a way through in a match that ended in frustration.
Al Nassr came into the final as favorites and had the support of around 26,000 fans at King Saud University Stadium. But Gamba Osaka made the decisive moment count, and that was enough to settle the contest.
Gamba Osaka strikes first.
The only goal came in the 30th minute when Deniz Hummet finished from Issam Jebali’s through ball. It was a clean attack and a sharp finish, and Al Nassr never managed to recover fully after that.
Gamba Osaka then stayed organized and defended well for the rest of the match. Their discipline stopped Al Nassr from building the kind of pressure they needed in front of the goal.
Ronaldo’s trophy wait continues.
Ronaldo remains Al Nassr’s leading scorer this season with 28 goals in 36 games across all competitions. Even so, this loss means his first major trophy with the club is still missing.
For Al Nassr, the defeat is a painful one because it came in a final they were expected to win. For Gamba Osaka, it was a historic result, as they became the first Japanese club to win the AFC Champions League Two title.
Ronaldo’s wait continues for now, and this result will stay with Al Nassr for some time.
